Overview

The ABS Ultra Low Temperature Freezer delivers rich features and benefits for the most demanding cold storage applications. Designed to utilize standard racks, this unit offers high efficiency with low noise by utilizing two high efficiency compressors that keep decibel levels low, while still having 300 BTUh reserve capacity. The interior of the unit features a triple gasket seal, vacuum relief port, five double walled insulated doors and 5 ½ - 6” of Urethane insulation in critical areas.

Units are made in the USA and are UL and C-UL listed.

Is the door locking mechanism on the ABS Ultra Low Temperature Freezers compatible with padlocks?

The ABS ULT freezers have a key lockable door, but they are not compatible with padlocks.

What is the weight capacity of each shelf?

50 pounds.

What is the temperature stability / differential of the ABS ULT freezers?

The temperature differential about the setpoint is typically set to +/- 5°C, as measured by a probe in air. The differential can be factory- or user-defined to a different range, however it is recommended that the differential not be set below +/- 3°C as the rapid cycling will increase wear on the compressors and decrease compressor life.

What is the insulation used and how thick is it?

The insulation thickness is 5.5 in on the sides and 6 in  at the rear. The material is FIP urethane.

What specific certifications do the American Biotech Supply ULT freezers have?

Is it possible to have an access port installed in the ABS Ultra Low Temperature Freezers?

Yes, it is possible to have a 1" access port installed for a modest fee, however due to the location of refrigerant lines and other components, it would need to be in the roof of the unit. Alternatively, if a 1/2" port would suffice, one can be created in the back of the unit.

How long will the freezer stay cold in the event of a power outage?

During testing all ABS Ultra Low Temperature Freezers are put through a test in which they are set to -80°C, then power is removed and they need to maintain a temperature below -50°C for at least 5 hours.

I have a 208 V line. Do I need to be worried about providing enough voltage to a 230 V ABS Ultra Low Freezer?

A 230 V American Biotech Supply ULT freezer can be used on a standard 208 V line without issue. They make use of an internal boost transformer which compensates for low voltage conditions.
